Eric Elwood is returning to Connacht Rugby as the province’s new domestic rugby manager. Elwood, who has spent a year working with pharmaceuticals company Omega Pharma after resigning as Connacht head coach, will take up his new role in January. He says the new role will be different, but exciting. “Connacht Rugby has been a huge part of my life and I have always understood the importance of the domestic game in the future of Connacht Rugby as a whole. I am looking forward to working with Willie [Ruane] and everyone in the domestic game in what is a truly exciting period for rugby in the West of Ireland. The former Galwegian, Connacht, and Ireland outhalf was the province’s head coach from 2010 to 2013 having previously been assistant coach to Michael Bradley, and is attributed with having lifted the province to a new level in both European and Pro 12 competitions.
