Eric Holder uses Zimmerman case to attack the "Stand Your ground law" The laws- which were considered controversial by some, reduce an individuals legal responsibility to retreat when attacked. At a NAACP meeting in Orlando on Tuesday, Holder commented "“These laws try to fix something that was never broken,” (In reference to the Stand Your Ground statutes). He went further quipping that “By allowing and perhaps encouraging violent situations to escalate in public, such laws undermine public safety.” The NRA responded quickly against the comments, releasing the following statement “The Attorney General fails to understand that self-defense is not a concept, it’s a fundamental human right,”.
