Erica Kate Terencechallenged me to list 10 books that have stayed with me in some way and tag people to do the same. Rules: Dont take more than a few minutes and do not think too hard. They dont have to be the right books or great works of literature, just ones that have affected you in some way. You cant be neutral on a moving train, Howard Zinn (made me change careers) Rules for Radicals, Saul Alinsky (taught me the principles of organizing) Peoples History of the United States of America, Howard Zinn (opened my eyes to reality that history is written too often written solely by the victor) Stranger in a Strange Land, Robert Heinlein (my first foray into real sci fi) Entire Sandman series by Neil Gaiman (Ill read anything Gaiman writes, love his imagination) Cats Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut Books (want to understand politics and religion?) Elric of Melnibone by Michael Moorecock (after all, were all reincarnated heroes of a past age arent we?) Dangerous Visions, edited by Harlan Ellison (what makes something taboo and how uncomfortable can you be?) The Sheep Look Up by John Brunner (opens with main character buying can of fresh air, sound familiar?) To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee (best southern novel ever...and yes Ive read Faulkner) lets see what James John Bell Bruce Ross John Driscoll Sophia Pelafigue Stormi Salamander Robert de la Madrid and Stan Blackley read.Or anyone else who wants to share - Im always on the hunt for a good book! Oh, and an Honorable mentions: Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell by Susanna Clarke
