Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports the arrest of a cab driver on outstanding Buffalo warrants and driving with a suspended license after Deputies were called to investigate complaints about someone skipping out on the fare. On November 7, around 2 a.m., a Deputy was investigating a fare skipper in the Town of Grand Island. As Deputy Clark investigated the complaint it was discovered that the taxi driver’s license was suspended for failure to pay child support. It was also discovered that the driver had outstanding warrants from the City of Buffalo. Deputy Clark waited for backup to arrive to take Jimmie Workman, 41 of Buffalo, into custody. Units from the New State Parks Police and U.S. Border Patrol arrived to assist the Deputy. Workman was arrested and charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Vehicle and later turned over the Buffalo Police Department for the warrants. Deputy Clark continued the investigation regarding the complaint of the fare skipper. The Deputy contacted residents in the surrounding area but no one could identify the suspect. The investigation is continuing with the cooperation of the Buffalo business where the suspect was picked up.
