Ernest Borgnine has died. He is one of my favorite movie actors of all time. Marty is a top 5 movie in my book. The most unlikely of leading men of the movies. I put Borgnines performance in Marty right up there with Marlon Brando in Streetcar, and Deans big splash in Rebel. So real like Brando and Dean, but often over looked in that 1950-55 era... What a class act Borgnine is in accepting his Academy Award for Marty -- thanking his mother, father and wife... He beat out James Dean, Spencer Tracy, James Cagney and Frank Sinatra (what is he doing in there?). Rightfully so Borgnine took the Oscar home. His was one of the best performances of the 1950s... Grace Kelly is elegance personified, and that fact is again clear in this clip. https://youtube/watch?v=irB5rrEbZw8... I watch this scene from Marty and I think, what guy hasnt been there, and what a heck of an acting job when no one is really on the other end of the phone. https://youtube/watch?v=O3bTMw3bb5o
