Erythe Hobbs, 88, of Viroqua, passed away at Vernon Manor in Viroqua after a brief stay. She was born in Reed City, Michigan on December 12, 1924 to Earl and Harriet (Bevins) Groves. She married Thomas Olson, they later divorced. She married Robert Hobbs, he passed away. After high school, she became a registered nurse in the U.S. government Nurse Cadet Corps. She enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served for a time. She later worked in hospitals in Michigan, New York, at Vernon Memorial Hospital in Viroqua, and at the Dominican Hospital in Santa Cruz, California. She had lived in retirement in Couch, Missouri for a few years before returning to Viroqua to live with a niece. She belonged to Peace Lutheran Church and the American Legion in Viroqua. Her main hobby was keeping in touch with numerous friends and relatives throughout the United States. She is survived by 4 step sons: Robert (Mary Kay) Hobbs, William (Jan) Hobbs, Stan Hobbs, and Stewart Hobbs; 1 step daughter: Susan (Bob) Reaney; and 2 brothers: Clint (Diane) Groves and Calvin Groves; and many nieces and nephews and friends. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 31, at 1 PM at Peace Lutheran Church in Readstown. Pastor Steve Fossum will officiate. Friends may call from 12 noon until time of services.
