Escambia County Flood Event Update - Debris Removal Tuesday, May 13, 2014 - 10:02am Escambia County is encouraging flood victims to place their storm damage debris on the right of way in front of their home. Contract crews hired by Escambia County have already begun the process of collecting this debris from impacted areas. Today, Tuesday, May 13, collection crews will be focusing their attention to the following areas: Cove Avenue Fowler Avenue Holsberry Road Massachusetts Avenue If you have excessive debris and have a serious need for help in removing the debris from your home, assistance is available. Contract debris removal crews will have “right of entry” forms available for those requesting help in removing debris from their home or property. The forms will need to be filled out and handed over to the debris removal crews before they can enter your property or home to help remove debris. The contracted debris collection crews will make their first stops along the larger roadways. Smaller collection trucks will then be sent into smaller roadways, like cul-de-sacs and dead end roads. Escambia County’s goal is to have as much storm debris collected as possible by May 18th. Under FEMA regulations, Escambia County is not allowed to wave the tipping fees (charges for dropping off waste) at the Perdido Landfill. Anyone with concerns about and debris removal taking place in Escambia County is asked to call the Solid Waste Management Department at (850) 937-2160.
