Esonance 2014 organized by Department of EEE, IUT Board Bazar, Gazipur – The multi-faceted technological event titled ‘Esonance 2014’ was organized by the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering of the Islamic University of Technology (IUT) on August 22, 2014. Students from all over Bangladesh participated in the event, which was held in the IUT campus in Gazipur. In the inauguration program, chief guest education minister Nurul Islam Nahid thanked the organizers for inviting him to the event and congratulated them on their achievement. The event was divided into a number of competitive segments. The robotics contest titled ‘Robomania’: 51 participating teams. Champion: Team ‘Soncharpothik’, Shahjalal University of Science and Technology The first runner-up was BUET eXPONENTIAL from BUET The second runner-up was DUET TimeOut from Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology (DUET) Project showcasing: Hardware projects: 46 teams Champion: Duronto from Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST) First Runner-up: X-TARK from Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) Second Runner-up: (Joitly) StellarDimensions from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) and Team Wildcard from IUT. Software projects: 10 teams Champion: X-Novice from the University of Chittagong MATLAB Coding Challenge and quiz competition: Over 100 Students Champion: Tariqul Islam from BUET First Runner-up: Bertrand Russell from IUB Second Runner-up: Redwan Islam from BUET Business case study: 10 teams Champion: Evil Geniuses from IUT First Runner-up: IUT-Firewall from IUT Second Runner-up: Foghorn from IUT Poster Presentation: Champion: Mohimanur Rahman from the University of Chittagong First Runner-up: IUT Second Runner-up: BUET A total of about 600 students from 44 different institutions participated in Esonance 2014. The event was broadcast by broadcast partner Independent TV. The Independent layed the role of print media partner.
