Essential Jesus Day 94 II Peter 3:1-18 In this passage Peter talks about scoffers who will laugh at the thought of Jesus returning. Peter says (verses 3-7) that their problem is that they have forgotten something very important. These scoffers deliberately overlook the fact that God HAS intervened in the past , specifically when He created the heavens and the earth out of NOTHING and when He judged the earth through the Flood of Noahs day. I didnt see the recent Noah movie, but from what Ive read they at least got it right that the people of Noahs day scoffed at the crazy thought that God was going to judge the earth through a flood! What Peter reminds us is that God CAN intervene in His creation whenever He desires and He has proved this in the past....and He will prove it again when He comes back to judge and rule a new heaven and a new earth! So then, dear friends, since you are looking forward to this, make every effort to be found spotless, blameless, and at peace with Him! (Verse 14)
