Essential reading . The Stuart having T-16-E1 tracks according to Hunnicutt ( Stuart presido press 1992) .Identified here is T41. track as fitted to Shermans. The Stuart Rubber block tracks were made of two component parts to the rubber. The cross rods in the shoe were first vulcanised with a tube of rubber before the outer shoe rubber was vulcanised over it. This process made the rubber block track a possibility and was standard for all US rubber block tracks. The elastic give between the two diffident compounds allowed for the twisting motion of the cross rods. Those attempting reproductions without taking this step. ie making a single block vulcanising process., soon find out that the she departs the rods quick smart. The process describing this is contained in a publication I understand called VUS 210. I am keen to get a copy of this. The long term drivability of Stuarts is dependant on either the re-manufacture of rubber block tracks or new manufacture of steel replacement shoes. the.shadock.free.fr/sherman_minutia/tracks/vvss_tracks.html
