This race (160k Endurance Challenge Chile) has marked a beginning for me into the world of Trail Running. I so am thankful to be an adventure race runner and have run 5-9 days non stop which takes me to the limit of my capacities. Verónica Bravo tells us her experience at the The North Face ENDURANCE CHALLENGE ULTRA TRAIL 160K Santiago, Chile, October 21th, 2014. - The third place obtained by Veronica at the Endurance Challenge is a record that makes her proud and she will never forget. Therefore, the Iron Woman gives us a first-person story of her vast experience at the international race on the San Carlos de Apoquindo trails. From the beginning of the race I enjoyed the prolonged effort, that is the aspect I remember the most and appreciated along the 160 kilometers experience. From the very first second of the race I felt I was prepared for what it was about to come and I was not afraid of anything that could happen to me, that feeling was really inspiring. I didn’t feel I was going like a crazy goat or too slow, it was just something psychological, like being suspended . I had moments when I felt my body as something wonderful, my confidence grew as the kilometers passed by and what I care about the most when I got to the finish line was how much I enjoyed the race, not what I won or my position. I coordinated my body & mind in harmony and I felt perfect through out the race. The final goal was very personal, running without being conscience of the time, just by sensation, having control of the uncontrollable, the state of flux; being able to achieve it and maintain it to the threshold . In a crucial part of the race, I screw up. Just before I got to the Altos Naranjo sector, my flashlight quit (I forgot to bring an extra flashlight or extra batteries) so I had to go down carefully in the dark and get to the next station at Bridge Ñilhue and wait there for a flashlight. It’s simple, I finished my first 100 miles, with over 9,000 meters of accumulated positive slope, marveling at my power of concentration that would allowed me to run a 28-hour race. At the finish line I was so happy that I even made a cart wheel across it. And Im ready for the up coming challenges… The North Face ENDURANCE CHALLENGE ULTRA TRAIL 160K WOMENS ELITE / 160K 1ª MANUELA VILASECA/BRA / 26:10:11 2ª MARLENE FLORES/CHI / 26:28:45 3ª VERÓNICA BRAVO/CHI / 28:28:20 Carlo Jimeno.
