Ethiopia Detains 12 Ethiopians With Foreign Citizenships Twelve Ethiopians, who hold foreign citizenship and were back in Ethiopia to celebrate the 1434th Eid al-Fitr celebration with their families, have been detained by securities in Addis Abeba, their families told ESAT. Four Ethiopians that hold American citizenship, two from Sweden, one from Australia and five from different European countries have been detained in the Central Prison in Addis Abeba since August 12, 2013. Various sources have reported that over 2000 Muslim protesters have been detained during the Eid al-Fitr celebration last week. The Ethiopian Federal Police, remaining quiet about the numbers, also admitted that it has arrested people and was conducting investigations. Prime Minister Hailemariam Dessalgn said last week that the current protests of Ethiopian Muslims were aimed at “bringing a Sharia government”. However, Ethiopian Muslims have been continually refuting this saying that it was not their question.
