Since then, one of my main occupation has been reviewing the statement of the International Rivers and the document it has published as a leaked report of the Experts Panel on the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance dam. (I am still waiting for a confirmation of the authenticity of the 54-page document) However, after reading it three times, I am convinced that I was correct to call the organization - using Meles Zenawis words - hydro-power extremist in July 2011. (Read here: hornaffairs/en/2011/07/08/anti-gibe-iii-activist-opposes-renaissance-dam-ethiopia/) Yet, what they did this week is totally incomprehensible. They grossly misrepresented the general facts as well as the contents of the leaked report of the Experts Panel. [Note that: they are the primary activist against the Gilgel Gibe III dam. A coincidence? ;) ] I just finished writing a rebuttal for International Rivers statement. But I will publish it tomorrow - for the sake of some editing. P.s. - I am disappointed at my government which did not want to give me the report in the past months, even if I asked a couple of times. I was inclined to think we have some something to hide. Apparently, secrecy is a sickness.
