Ethnic Integrity and Challenges in Sri Lanka: Conflict or Harmony? An Intellectual Insight Sri Lanka is passing a critical stage after three decades long past political crisis scarified enormous social, cultural, human, and financial resources that could be used for the country’s sustainable development process. Though, there are no conflict with terrorists within Sri Lankan boundary, there are overt and covert conflicts on what we experienced and also on certain ideologies implanted with the conflict. Subsequently, today, we are experiencing some conflicts with Muslims in different localities in the country and the trend is alarming for another social conflict which is an unrealistic goal. Section F (Social Sciences) of Sri Lanka Association for the Advancement of Science (SLAAS) is considering the matter as a serious burning issue in the country and decided to have an intellectual forum to discuss the theme “Ethnic Integrity and Challenges in Sri Lanka: Conflict or Harmony? An Intellectual Insight” on 15 July 2014, 5.00 pm at the main auditorium of SLAAS. There are three speakers representing three major fields. Particulars are as follows. Prof. M. U. de Silva – a noted historian Prof. Asanka Thilakaratne – a renowned Buddhist philosopher Mr. Athulasiri Samarakoon – a reader in PhD (Politics and International Relations), Jawaharlal Nehru University The forum is open for all who are keen on contemporary social issues in Sri Lanka.
