Kadiri said this while presenting the 2013 budget to the council’s legislature in Auchi. He explained that from the total projected budget of N2.82 billion for 2012 fiscal year, only N560 million was expended. A sum of N3.47 billion was proposed for 2013, representing an increase of 18.75 per cent over that of 2012. The chairman said that the low expenditures recorded in 2012 were as a result of the dwindling Federal Statutory Allocation. He said that from N1.03 billion projected for recurrent expenditures, only N448 million, representing 43.36 per cent was utilised in 2012. Kadiri also said that only N112 million was spent on capital expenditures against N1.81 billion budgeted for the purpose in that year. The chairman said that a deliberate plan had been mapped out to ensure full implementation of the budget in 2013. He said that the 2013 budget of N3.47 billion comprised capital expenditures of N1.07 billion and recurrent expenditures of N2.42 billion. Kadiri promised to ensure speedy developments in the health, economy, youth and sports, education, as well as transportation sectors. He also assured the people of good governance, adding that his desire was to ensure that the local government contributed meaningfully and significantly to the welfare and socio-economic development of the people. The chairman urged members of the legislature to ensure speedy passage of the budget proposal. The Speaker of the council’s legislative arm, Miss Abibat Yakubu, said that the House would support the executives in ensuring good governance in the council. Yakubu urged the chairman to replicate the state governor’s development strides in the council. She, however, said that the budget would be thoroughly examined by the legislative arm.
