Eugenio López, the representative of Angel Di Maria, has backed his client’s comments and insists that hey never asked the club to renew the Argentine international’s contract for a salary of €8 million per year. DiMaria In an interview with Spain’s Cadena COPE, Lopez responded to Real Madrid president Florentino Perez’recent comments, claiming Di Maria wanted to leave after asking Real Madrid to renew his contract and pay a salary similar to that of Cristiano Ronaldo. “Before the World Cup there was no offer from Real Madrid. He never asked for €8 million per year and would’ve stayed for much less, even though there was a club who offered more. The idea was to wait and come to an agreement with Real Madrid in order for him to stay. He wanted to earn what they promised him and he would’ve stayed for much less than Manchester United is paying him. “He signed until 2018, but he wanted to improve his deal. Which is normal. They brought in Kroos and James. That was a sign that something was wrong. They didn’t bring in James because Di Maria wanted to leave. They are very different players. “We started to negotiate, but Real Madrid didn’t budge. I’m speaking in reference of what Florentino Perez said. Ancelotti did everything he could to keep Di Maria. When we played Atleti in the Super Cup, the ovation from the crowd was tremendous. He’s only a fan of Rosario Central, but he loves Real Madrid. He made mistakes, but didn’t hurt anyone. If Real Madrid was so quick to sign James Rodriguez, why wouldn’t they make an of five million over five years, is that so much to let him leave? “I don’t know who Angel was referring to in his letter, he’ll have to answer that. He doesn’t want to destabalise Real Madrid.” Lopez concluded by responding to those who questioned Di Maria’s commitment to the team stating, “He went to the game in Dortmund just three hours after the complicated birth of his daughter.” Three hours and Madrid question his commitment?.
