Eulogy-------INA ZOE ZUEHLKE (Carpenter) Date: 8 March 2014 First I want to thank everyone for coming to the celebration of Ina’s life. On New Year’s Eve 1990 I attended a single’s dance. While talking to a friend I noticed a beautiful lady sitting by herself on the next table. I excused myself from my friend and asked this lady to dance. We did not miss a dance the rest of the night and brought the New Year in together. The next weekend we met at the Sheridan Hotel singles dance. After many dances I took Ina out to the lobby. We sat on one of their couches. I said, “this is who I am, who are you”. After that, other than my work we were seldom apart. On Christmas Eve 1991 we exchanged Christmas presents on the floor before the fireplace in the Brockway House living room. I gave Ina a glove box rapped with special care. Upon opening the box a pair of ladies black formal gloves appeared. She looked at me with a questioning look on her face. I had to ask her to look again. You see I had placed an engagement ring on the ring finger of the black gloves. When she saw it I was mauled. What fun! We traveled some: Minneapolis byway of the Badger on Lake Michigan, Sand dunes, Traverse City, Mackinaw Island, Port Huron, Niagara Falls, Windsor, Canada, Tennessee, Colorado Springs. I owned the Brockway House Bed and Breakfast and remember well driving up the driveway that first time. Ina did not know what to expect. She exploded with enthusiasm and created a most successful business that saw visitors from sixty-nine foreign countries and 49 of the fifty states in twelve years of operation. Ina, using the spacious grounds and interior of the Brockway House, created a wedding business that annually saw some twenty-five events. During the winter months numerous murder mystery parties were held. Totally blown away I was on September 8th 1995 when at the Rose Garden in Saginaw at 2:00pm, Ina, came down the aisle and we were joined together what a breath taking moment in the history of our lives together. Who could forget the off colored white dress and hat she wore that day in the out -door sun—beautiful—beautiful is forever burned in my memory. God brought us together for many reasons. The single special reason to me. I who never had a family of my own upon saying “I do” became step Dad to Ina’s nine kids and eventually 24 grand kids and 4 great grand kids. The years rolled by: there has always been things organic, gardening, avoiding food that has chemicals and other products not good for consumption. She raised organic, chickens and ducks. The love of animals dogs, cat’s, birds, horses, goats. Somewhere along the way, I became: “Mr. Z” and Ina “Zoe-Z” Zoe-Z, prepared me in this life journey to be strong. We can’t explain why things happen. The only thing I’m holding on to is the Bible teaching God causes all things to work together and causes all good to those who love God. Zoe-Z’s illness has a reason. Speaking of her illness at no time did I ever hear her complain, feel sorry for herself, of the tremendous pain she was suffering. Her faith was her power base throughout her life for everything. Today we mourn for Zoe’s loss. However, we rejoice for her new life with the Lord. No more pain. Hello Central, give me Heaven: For my Zoe-Z’s there. She’s with the angels on the golden stair. I just called to say I miss you. Walk with the Lord, dear Zoe-Z as a citizen of heaven. I will always love you. Mr. Z Speaking for Zoe-Z and myself we wish to convey our very special thanks to daughters: Cindy, Megan, Ramee and sisters, Jane and Melba for the total care Zoe required. And to all the many that gave her strength through their prayers. The Lord Bless you all and keep you in His Peace!
