Euromed Police III: conference marks achievements and looks to future The EU-funded Euromed Police III project has held a regional conference in Marseille to assess its achievements over the past three years, and discuss prospects for future cooperation. The conference, attended by delegates from the southern partner countries and the EU, heard an overview of activities implemented by the project, before participants divided into working groups that addressed the following: Improving police governance; Fight against terrorism and organised crime; Treatment of public security community policing; Practice of international cooperation. In a closing intervention, the European Commission representative encouraged participants to talk about a mechanism of cooperation instead of a project, citing different instruments (e.g. Taiex or Twinning) that could allow activities to be implemented.
