European Commission - Humanitarian Aid & Civil Protection (ECHO): In Colombia, an internal armed conflict between the government and armed guerrillas has been ongoing during the last five decades. During the conflict, girls and boys have been, among others, subject of forced recruitment. Colombia has the second highest number of internally displaced people in the world-more than 50 per cent of them are under the age of 18. UNHCR, thanks to the EU Children of Peace initiative, is helping 130 students between the ages of 11 and 21 in the school. The help surpasses classes and intends to provide the community with strategies that allows them to offer new opportunities within the community.
