European Union Project carries out national discussion «Environmentally Friendly Business – Experience, Challenges and Opportunities» BISHKEK, November 6, 2013 – Regional Environmental Center of Central Asia declares the launch of the national discussion of green and competitive small and medium business (SMB/SME) in Kyrgyzstan within the framework of the Project the «Targeted awareness raising for enhanced EU-CA partnership (AWARE)» , financed by the European Union. Venue and time: November 6, 2013, 09.00 – 17:00, the Conference hall of Urmat Ordo Hotel, at the address: 85, Issanova str., Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. The Agenda of the meeting includes presentation of the survey outcomes by the theme “Practices in the Area of Sustainable Production and Consumption and in Small and Medium Business in Central Asia”, representatives of various business associations as well as managers of small and medium enterprises implementing environmentally green technologies in their work will take part in course of the meeting. Participants will discuss the following issues: Do environmentally friendly practices give real advantages to small and medium business on the market? How to introduce «green» standards into business processes and what assistance could be rendered to entrepreneurs to that end? What new market possibilities and advantages will environmentally friendly SME get? How can a Business join the Green Business Club Central Asia movement? A series of such meetings took place in Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, and Tajikistan and will take place in Uzbekistan in 2013, which will help to unite leaders of small and medium business with professionals in the area of «green» technologies and discuss trends, technologies and best practices of new green economy wave. One of the results of such an activity will be Green Business Club Central Asian to be set up. Additional information: The Project of awareness raising is designed for two years (2012-2014) and is under implementation in five states of CA: Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan along three directions: • Awareness raising as to the use of return water and recycling/turnover water supply as a measure aimed at filling in gaps in water resource management; • Awareness raising as to the most applicable practices such as System of Environmental Information Sharing (SEIS) and etc. • Ensuring private sector involvement into the processes of sustainable consumption and production (SCP) and energy efficiency increase (EE) as essential components for public-private partnership (PPP) through awareness raising.
