Eurostars programme (devoted to R&D performing SMEs) receives over 1.14 billion € for the next financial period 2.014-2.020. The EU has published its figures on investment in research and innovation programmes jointly undertaken with industry and national governments. The Eurostars Programme is a European Joint Programme dedicated to R&D performing SMEs, and co-funded by the European Communities and 33 EUREKA member countries. Eurostars aims to stimulate these SMEs to lead international collaborative research and innovation projects by easing access to support and funding. It focuses on the needs of SMEs, and specifically targets the development of new products, processes and services and the access to transnational and international markets. The figures show an investment in Eurostars totalling over 1.14 billion Euros, with 287 million Euros coming from the Horizon 2020 programme and 861 million from countries participating in Eurostars. This new investment represents an increase of more than 200% to the programme’s preceding mandate under FP7.
