Evacuation of critically ill crew from MV Vishva Ekta off C/Bay PORT BLAIR, JAN 3/-/ The Maritime Rescue Cordination Centre (MRCC), Coast Guard evacuated the critically ill crew of SCI Ship MV Vishva Ekta on 03 Jan 15 in a very swift and well coordinated joint operation with HQANC, DSS and Local Administration at Campbell Bay. At about 1055 hrs on 03 Jan 15, information was received from the Port Management Board and Shipping Corporation of India, Port Blair regarding serious health condition of chief cook onboard Merchant Vessel Vishva Ekta and requested for Medical Assistance. The Ship on passage from Singapore to Ratnagiri was diverted to Campbell Bay for early Medical Assistance. On receipt of the message, MRCC Coast Guard, contacted the Master of the Ship and provided Medical Advice via e-mail. The ship was diverted to arrive off Campbell Bay. At about 1154 hrs the ship anchored at outer anchorage. The Commander Coast Guard Dist HQs -10, Campbell bay along with Assistant Commissioner and Primary Health Center Medical Team, Campbell Bay proceeded to MV Vishva Ekta by DSS Vessel MV Wandoor. The patient was evacuated to Primary Health Centre, Campbell Bay for initial treatment and diagnosis. In meanwhile, Indian Air Force Dornier of HQANC was positioned at Campbell Bay for further assistance. The patient condition was found stable after basic medical checkup by PHC Campbell Bay. On advice of the local medical authorities, the patient was evacuated to Port Blair by Indian Air Force Dornier of HQANC for medical treatment. The Indian Coast Guard in keeping with its motto Vayama Rakshamah has once again demonstrated its resolve to save every life in distress at sea through coordinated efforts of resource agencies in A&N Islands.
