Eve Birt, 97, lifelong Panhandle resident, died Saturday morning, May 17, 2014, at her home in Guymon. The daughter of Richard Franklin Reed, Sr. and Cora Blanche Clark, she was born March 12, 1917, in Eva, Oklahoma. Eve attended Bartels county school north of Guymon. She was united in marriage to Dannie Dee Birt on March 15, 1937, in Hugoton, Kansas. He preceded her in death on May 1, 1990. Eve was a homemaker and member of the Church of God. She was very family orientated; her kids were her clubs. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dannie Birt; a son, Rev. Gary Birt; three brothers, Rayburn, Wilford and Richard Reed Jr., and four sisters, Reva Gilliland, Buenta, Mossaline and Bonnie Reed. Survivors include two daughters, Glenda and husband, Art Hatfield of Guymon, and Sharon and husband, Tommy Jones of Texhoma; daughter-in-law, Jan Birt of Austin, Texas; six grandchildren: Cindy Hays of Amarillo, Terri Branson and husband, Mike of Guymon, Glen Hatfield and wife, Lesa of Guymon, Stephen Birt and wife, Michelle of New Hope, Minnesota, David Birt and wife, Reagan of Austin, Texas, and Tommy Jones II and wife, Micah of Austin, Texas, and one brother, Buford Reed and wife, Bess of Amarillo, Texas. Survivors also include six great grandchildren: Caleb Branson and wife, Sylvia of Guymon, Cassie Pavlicek and husband, Josh of Guymon, Jacob Hays of Fort Worth, Texas, Colton Hatfield and wife, Katie of Fay, Oklahoma, Bonnie Hays of Guymon and Spencer Hatfield also of Guymon; eight great grandchildren: Lane and Cale Pavlicek, Carter and Landon Hatfield, Kaylie and Charis Birt and Brecken and Rowan Birt; sisters-in-law, Patsy and Lena Reed of Guymon and brother-in-law, Hervey Gilliland of Roswell, New Mexico. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday afternoon, May 20, at 2:00 p.m. at the Bunch - Roberts Chapel with Rev. Tommy Hull, Texhoma First Baptist Church pastor officiating. Interment will follow in the Elmhurst Cemetery. Services are under the care of the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home of Guymon. The Birt family request memorials be given to the Wounded Warriors Project or your church of choice. Memorials will be accepted at the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1112, Guymon, OK 73942.
