Eve hates me right now. Refusing to look at me. Spoiled brat. ;) Today she had another round of steroids, her twice weekly vitamins, her daily pain relief and daily antibiotics. Usually she flinches from the antibiotic injection and hates the sting of the vitamin injection, but as she has told me before, theres nothing quite like the firey ant-bite pain of an injection of steroids. Having all four in a short space of time has made her have a little sulk. I dont blame her, poor thing, and I dont much like putting her through it either. The good news is that she struggled quite strongly, even getting one front foot on the floor as though she might stand up. As much as I hate how uncomfortable it is for her, this is the FIRST TIME she has got a foot on the floor underneath her and thought about trying to stand. It was a huge effort and she had to throw all her weight to the off side to do it, and without me there to keep her upright she would have gone down onto her side and been stuck, but she actually got that foot right where she wanted it without any assistance in moving the leg. If I wasnt busy trying to keep the needle in I might have done a cartwheel. :D Im about to take her more grass to bribe her to talk to me again. That will also keep her distracted while I get her physio done before I get her ready for the night. More good news is that we had a warm day and she drank more than she has for a while. Im confident after emptying her chamber pot that her kidneys are okay, because the urine wasnt strong smelling or looking too yellow. Ive also finally managed to finalise the order for the walker, and it will apparently be here by next Friday, which is much faster than the three week turn around I was told there is. The person Ive been dealing with is pushing the build through quickly, as she realises a sheep is quite a bit more difficult to keep stretched and supple in the limbs than a pet dog who doesnt mind being rolled and manipulated and who is able to lay on their side for extended periods. Dogs in her position can be laid lots of different ways to keep pressure from being on one point all the time, helping them to minimise pressure sores. A sheeps front end needs to be upright most of the time, meaning that one point on their sternum is always in contact with the floor (or whatever is beneath them). The upshot of all of this is that the manufacturer recognises the urgency of Eves situation and were jumping the queue. :) Another great episode of Days of Our Eve.
