Even MORE good news on the Lambda front: Christina Hanhardt won a Lambda for LGBT Studies, for her book, _Safe Space: Gay Neighborhood History and the Politics of Violence._ Im currently reading it, and its a complex, nuanced, and much-needed analysis of the whole idea of safe space, and its connections to gentrification. Its worth noting that Christinas book, which will become a classic, has been awarded alongside Mattildas on _The End of San Francisco._ The fact that two incredibly radical texts on queers, gentrification, queer space, and neoliberalism should receive Lambdas at the same time should give us radical queers hope for so much. We hope that our academic and organising pals are reading this and thinking, Hmmmm, wouldnt it be amazing to have both these people at an event or a panel, TOGETHER!? Pick up a copy of Christinas book, devour it in reading groups or by yourself. And, forgive the Bridget Jones bit, but HURRAH!
