“Even as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement.” 1 Peter 3:6 (KJV) “In trying to do things on my own, I have made a complete mess of things. Why is it so hard for me to trust and obey God, and wait on Him to do what He said He would do?” Do you feel this way or have you ever felt this way? If so, you are not alone. Many of us feel trapped in a life of fear and insecurity, impatience and unbelief. The moment we understand what it means to be a daughter of Sarah, is the moment our lives become interesting and we are forever changed. Sarai was like so many of us today. She followed her husband from place to place and went along with his plots and schemes. However, when it came down to what God wanted to do in her, she doubted. Sarai had a hard time believing God would give her a son in her old age, and even went as far as to try to help God out in creating Ishmael, as if God needed any help. How did God respond? He changed her name, reminded her of His promise, and assured her that nothing was too hard for Him. Sarah believed and gave birth to God’s promise for her life! Go Sarah! The great news is, she is your spiritual ancestor and you are her spiritual daughter! As a daughter of Sarah, it is in your nature to trust God and wait on Him to do what He said He would do! It is in your nature to be a great wife and follow that man to the moon, if need be, trusting that God will take care of you. Embrace who you are! Such a rich heritage for a rich daughter! Prayer: Father, thank You for such a rich heritage! No matter how I have felt in the past, to know that I am a daughter of Sarah gives me hope and faith in believing Your promises. I choose trust in You just as Sarah did. I choose to embrace who I am in you. Lord, I pray You continue to help me understand my true identity and rich heritage. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
