Even bees respect icons! In the region Kapandriti near Athens, a wonderful thing happened. Ten years ago, pious beekeeper named Isidoros Timinis, has put an icon of Crucifixion in one of the hives. Soon after that, when he opened the hive,he was stunned. Bees have shown great respect and devotion to the Icon. They surrounded it in wax, but left face and body of The Lord uncovered. From that day, every spring, the beekeeper leaves Icons of Saviours,Virgin Mary and Saints in hives, and result is always the same. Once I left a hand painted Icon from a monastery that presents ordeal of three Crosses. Bees covered the surface of the entire composition, leaving uncovered the cross of Christ and the repentant thief with the right hand , while the thief on the left side of the cross was covered with a thick layer of wax . Last time I went, we left an icon of St. Stephen first Martyr and archdeacon, whose name our modest publishing house carries. As you can see from the photo shown, the entire icon is covered in was, leaving face and body uncovered.
