Even from my hospital 🏥 bed (Im in the hospital every 2-3 months, cyclic vomiting) I am properly educating people & making them aware of the stats. I was able to educate 3 nurses today, 2 CNAs & an LPN about the inherent traits of pitbulls & the high number of deaths/maimings they are responsible for. One nurse thanked me because she had noticed some odd behavior from her neighbors pitbull, she ordered some bear mace from Walmart online during her lunch break. The best conversation I had was with the doctor overseeing my care, he had this to say: During my residency at Houstons childrens hospital, I treated many dog bites on kids, none of them required stitches & the patient was sent home with bandages & antibiotics. But those bites were from regular dogs(his words now). A 14 year old child came in with his arm mangled, skin was hanging off & chunks of flesh wore torn out almost to the bone. I thought it had to be some sort of wild animal attack because the damage was similar to a bear attack victim I had seen in textbooks in medical school. I was shocked to hear the boys aunts pitbull terrier did this. I was shocked to think people are allowed to keep pets that do this. I completely understand why this is concerning to you, no dog that does damage comparable to bears should be allowed as a pet, or around children. Every place you go, is an opportunity to bring up the victims, educate as much as possible, especially about the false propaganda nutters put out.
