Even if the made-up rules are internally consistent enough to parse, so what? Magic: the Gathering has internally consistent rules and doesn’t shed light on the human condition. If there is a theoretical dichotomy between the suffering of Scott Aaronson and real oppression, it doesn’t seem to tell us anything about anything. Aaronson was victim of culturally sanctioned shaming tactics to the point where he was ready for self-castration and suicide. Whether or not it technically fits an ideological criteria for oppression can only serve as a measure of whether or not that very criteria is meaningful.
