Even if you’re shot in the face, you’re not out of the fight. Officer Schmidt was badly injured but still mobile and could even talk after being shot in the head at point blank range. There’s a lesson here as a good guy on two fronts. First, if you’re shot, keep fighting! You never know what the future holds, but if you’re still conscious you need to keep fighting. Second, if you have to shoot someone in self-defense never assume the first shot will do the trick. Even head shots don’t always incapacitate, especially with a pistol.
