Even though I currently view myself as an independent (that can be swayed), I think the big irony from what ive observed is this: Most FNM Party supporters believed in Branvilles leadership potentials and felt that he was the next best candidate in the party who could have advance the party/ country once HAI left office ... Of course , All of a sudden their views towards him and his leadership potentials have changed since he is no longer with the Fnm Party. Today, there are still many people in the FNM PARTY who express that if Branville apologize to HAI and go back to the fnm Party, they would support him as leader. That right there tells me that FNM party loyalists really believe Branville has the potentials but they are unwilling to admit it simply because of what occurred years ago - first with him leaving the party and again with what occurred in the elections. I also find it ironic that many FNM supporters would argue that theres no room or relevancy for a third Party or a new Party in Bahamian politics and have gone to great lengths to discredit the dna By speaking of its lack of skills / experience / vision. However, if they were to rightly take a walk down history lane, they would realize that the FNM was once regarded as that ”third” Party and also as a ”New” Party when they made their debut many years ago on 1971 (prior to them, the dominating parties were UBP and PLP). Originally known as the ”dissident eight” and Free-PLP, the FNM came into existence as a result of several PLP members, having been disgruntal with the ideals and vision of the plp party, seekkng to form a New Party that would present a New vision, a New set of ideals, and a New form of governing for advance the country. In consideration of this, i would have to ask them what is their real issue with Branville ? He hasnt done anything different from that of the history of the FNM Party. I view it as history repeating itself. Branville and many of his colleagues were unhappy with the vision, the ideals, and some of the things that were going on in the FNM party and as a result started DNA. I am certain that just as the FNM made its way to become relevant in Bahamian politics so can DNA.
