Even though I disagree with Tavis Smiley on some things, he is correct when he talks about how African Americans are going backwards based under this Presidency. Dr. Umar Johnson talked about the same thing in Hidden Colors 3: The Rules of Racism. He is also correct when he talked about all of the people, including African American Leadership that turned on Dr. King after he delivered his anti-war speech in 1967, Why Im Opposed to the Vietnam War. “We’ve been at the back of the bus. Every other constituency have spoken their truth and made demands of this president. Right now the Hispanic community, for obvious reasons, is livid with him for pushing back once again something he should’ve done, I think, a long time ago,” he said. “But the data is going to indicate -- I said this before and I’m not happy about this, I don’t celebrate this. I don’t say it as a way of demonizing the president or casting an aspersion on him – but the data is going to indicate that black people lost ground in every single leading economic category during the Obama years.” Watch the full interview here: live.huffingtonpost/r/segment/tavis-smiley-discusses-martin-luther-king-jr/540f57d202a760da9a000207 Sign up for The African History Network email newsletter by texting the word Kemet to 22828. #TheAHNShow Twitter: FB: IG: Michael Imhotep Listen to “The African History Network Show” with host Michael Imhotep as we interview some of our top Scholars, Monday-Thursday, 8pm-10pm EST at blogtalkradio/theafricanhistorynetworkshow or AfricanHistoryNetwork by phone, when we are LIVE at (914) 338-1375.
