Even though its been three years, it still feels like yesterday. I was at TCC, just finished my accuplacer, and went outside to hoop. Around 1:10pm, i received an estranged call from a number not even saved on my phone. I answered it, and was told that my friend, my teammate, my brother, Eric Trevino, had just been in car accident. I was so skeptical and in disbelief, I went as far as to cussing them out over the phone. But while talking to them, I received a text as well. Say bro, did you hear about Eric? After that message, more and more kept coming in. I was then forced to believe it was true. I made a call, asked one last time if it were true, and began to break down. I raced to the nearest teacher and DEMANDED we return to school. So, around this time 3 years ago, we were in the field house, consoling each other. Hearing, Its gonna be alright. and Youll get through it. Well Ill tell you what, 3 years later and I still feel the pain. The pain that, had I not gone to TCC, and stuck to my plan of taking you to lunch, youd still be here with us. Going full-hearted with your dreams of making it pro. Now Ive not kept up with many of my promises to you, but I do give you my word, I will try my best to keep them.
