Even with the drop in gas prices New Yorkers are paying too much because of taxes. Soon I will be reintroducing my bill to set the state gas tax at the national average which will save NY drivers and businesses more than 20 cents per gallon. If we modestly roll back one of the many corporate welfare programs that benefit only the chosen few, we can give everyone a gas tax cut without a revenue shortfall or cuts in programs.
