Evening Army! I was so excited about Kaetes announcement today! 2014 was an amazing year... we had over 20 athletes participate in Ironman races as members of the 2014 Team Ride to Give. The season ended with 10 members of Team RTG crossing the finish line at Ironman Chattanooga. I was forever changed by that experience and it got me thinking... could I maybe train for an Ironman? more realistically a half Ironman? I am not by nature an athlete. I did run a half marathon this past spring but that does not make me an Ironman candidate. I have never swam competitively and never ridden a road bike. But there was a fire lit inside me and I wanted to be part of what I saw in Chattanooga. I sheepishly asked Ironman Dave via a text message what he thought and he simply sent back the registration link for Ironman 70.3 Syracuse. Without thinking I filled out the form, entered my credit card and hit send. Just like that... I am signed up for my first triathlon! Since then I have been taking swimming lessons, which I love. I bought a road bike and have been riding a few miles every other day to get used to the seat and the riding style. I admit I have not been running very much but once training starts January 5th that will change for sure. Today I officially join Team Ride to Give and cant wait for Coach Michael to send our first weeks workout plan.
