Evening Devotional for May 3 THOUGH THE WORLD FALLS APART Psalm 46:1-2 (NLT) God is...always ready to help in times of trouble. So we will not fear when earthquakes come and the mountains crumble into the sea. Psalm 46:3, 5 (NIV) Though its waters oar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging....God is within her, she will not fall; god will help her at break of day. As human beings. we tend to describe our security in terms of the earthly things that make us feel safe. Our family, friends, home, job, church, community, and national resources usually comprise our core infrastructure of protection.But what happens when those things tremble-or worse, tumble? What can we depend on when everything is suddenly taken from us? Youve read enough of this devotional to know that the answer is God-but is that truth ingrained deeply within your heart? This world was not meant to last. The earth shakes, houses collapse, and businesses fail-theyre all temporary. Only God remains trustworthy and steadfast forever. Hes the only sure foundation for your security. God, please help me to base all my confidence in your love and unshakable security. Thank you for sustaining and protecting me. Amen.
