Evening Friends..... Psalms 63:1-2 A Psalm of David, when he - TopicsExpress

Evening Friends..... Psalms 63:1-2 A Psalm of David, when he was in the wilderness of Judah. O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is; To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary. When I read the Psalms, I am often shocked by how very personal some of these psalms are. Most are not framed as national prayers, but as personal pleas......the song of a heart hungry and thirsty to know God better. Such is the case with the 63rd Psalm.....a heart plea from David. It seems as if some Christians have learned very little of a daily devotional life. Some time ago a young convert, whom I pastored at the time, asked me what the secret of victorious Christian living was. I told him that there is no magical formula that can be pronounced......but if there are any words that could describe it I would say surrender and devotion. Nothing can take the place of a daily devotional life with Christ. Your quiet time, your prayer time, the time you spend in the Word, is absolutely essential for a happy Christian life. You cannot possibly be a happy, dynamic, and powerful Christian apart from a daily walk with Christ. Christ is calling Christians today to cleansing, to dedication, to consecration, and to full surrender. It will make the difference between success and failure in your spiritual life. It will make the difference between being helped and helping others. It will make a difference in your habits, in your prayer life, in your Bible reading, in your giving, in your testimony, and in your church membership. I believe this is a pivotal hour of decision for we as Christians. Here the Psalmist expresses his decision.....the word for the phrase early will I seek (KJV) is shāḥar, be intent on, inquire for, seek. ......so the word suggests an eagerness that is willing to rise early and to continue the quest with earnestness. In my experience of more than three decades as a minister of the Gospel, Ive observed that a passive person seldom connects with God in any satisfying or deepening manner. The Scripture says......... Deuteronomy 4:29 But if from thence thou shalt seek the Lord thy God, thou shalt find him, if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul. Jeremiah 29:13 And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. So like David.....we need to have a determination to seek God passionately until we know Him in His power and glory.......my soul is thirsty......how about yours ??? Have a blessed evening !!
