RATHER Incharge, RNU, Jammu RS-Bill Source-NSD Several political parties have given notice to Rajya Sabha Chairman Hamid Ansari for referring Insurance Laws (Amendment) Bill to Select Committee. These parties include Congress, CPI (M), CPI, SP, BSP, DMK, JD(U), Trinamool Congress and RJD. The government proposes to bring the Bill in Rajya Sabha on Monday which seeks to raise the ceiling of Foreign Direct Investment in insurance sector to 49 percent from the current 26 percent. Sources said that it has been agreed upon among the Opposition parties that as soon as the government moves the Bill in the Rajya Sabha, they will move a motion pressing for referring it to the Select Committee. PM-Nepal Source-NSD Prime Minister Narendra Modi will pay a two-day visit to Nepal from tomorrow. Briefing media about the visit, MEA spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin said, Mr Modi will hold delegation level talks with his Nepalese counterpart Sushil Koirala in Kathmandu and discuss the entire gamut of bilateral relations. On the same day, he will address Nepals Constituent Assembly. Akbaruddin said the Prime Minister will also meet the leaders of opposition parties in the Himalayan nation. He will pay obeisance at Pashupatinath Temple on Monday. This will be the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Nepal after seventeen years. It will be Modis second visit to a SAARC country. After becoming Prime Minister, he visited Bhutan on his first foreign tour. The visits indicate high priority India attaches to its neighbor countries. CAG Source-NSD The Comptroller and Auditor General, CAG has found irregularities and lack of financial transparency in various departments of Delhi government causing a revenue loss of crores of rupees. In its report, which was tabled in Parliament yesterday, the CAG said that test check of the records of 96 units of departments of Trade and Taxes, State Excise, Transport and others conducted during the year 2012-13 showed a revenue loss aggregating to over two thousand crore rupees. amenities and facilities such as drinking water,sanitation, drainage and electric fittings were absent or of sub-standard quality. PM-Attestation Source-NSD In a citizen-friendly initiative, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has advocated a shift towards self-certification of documents and minimum use of affidavits in a bid to save the common man from hassles. All ministries and departments at the Centre and in states have been asked to make a provision for self-certification of documents in place of affidavits. A statement from the Prime Ministers Office said that the requirement of attestation by gazetted officers is sought to be replaced by self-certification by the citizen. Under the self-certification method, the original documents are required to be produced at the final stage. In case of false self-certification, the person can be booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. Budda Amarnath Source-AD News On the 2nd day of annual pilgrimage of Shri Budda Amarnathji Yatra in Poonch district, 278 pilgrims left from Jammu in the wee hours today. The Base Camp sources told Incharge RNU Tariq Rather that the 2nd batch including 220 men, 48 women and 10 children left from Bhagwati Nagar base Camp in Jammu at 5:10 A.M., for its destination in Mandi-Rajpora town in Poonch district of Jammu region. The 10 day annual pilgrimage of Shri Budda Amarnathji Yatra commenced yesterday morning with first batch of over 1200 yatries reaching Poonch late last night. Yatra Source-AD News Over 3 lakh 58 thousand yatries had darshan (glimpse) of Ice Shiv Lingam at the Holy Shri Amarnathji Cave till yesterday evening with the annual Yatra entering 36th day today. Amid tight security, the 37th batch of 293 pilgrims today left for the Amarnath cave shrine from Jammu, which includes 155 men, 46 women, one child, 82 Male Sadhus and 09 Female Sadhus, left from the Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu in a cavalcade of 8 vehicles at 4:20 in the morning. With todays batch, a total of 53, 444 pilgrims have so far left from the Jammu base camp for the shrine. The convoy on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway would reach their destinations at Baltal and Pahalgam base camps by this evening.Meanwhile, the traditional Chhari-Pujan was performed last evening at Dashnami Akhara Temple in Srinagar with religious fervour and gaiety under the supervision of Shri Mahant Dependra Giri Ji. Talking to RNU Incharge Tariq Rather in Srinagar, Shri Mahant Dependra Giri Ji said the age old tradition Charri Pujan is performed every year at Dashnami Akhara temple on the day of Nag Panchhami. INFILTRATION SOURCE: NSD In Kashmir, Army yesterday foiled a major infiltration bid in Keran sector of frontier district of Kupwara by gunning down four militants. The encounter had started on Thursday when a group of militant infiltrated into the Indian side of LoC and was intercepted near the Shundi Gali some 50 kilometre away from Kupwara. Two militants were killed on Thursday while two others got killed yesterday in the fierce encounter. A senior army officer based in Kupwara told AIR that during this infiltration bid four militants were killed. Eight AK 47 rifles, 500 AK rounds, two UBG Launchers, UBG grandees, fifteen hand grenades and two radio sets have been recovered. KAS SOURCE: INFO The Public Service Commission (PSC) yesterday declared the result of the Combined Competitive (Preliminary) Examination 2013. The PSC has notified the list of 99 candidates. Ms. Saba Noor has topped in the examination. 30 female candidates figure in the list. 13 candidates belonging to reserved categories have found place in the open merit category. Total, 20236 candidates appeared in the Preliminary Examination. Kashmir-Restrictions Source-PTI Prohibitory orders were today imposed in parts Srinagar in the wake of a strike call by hardline Hurriyat Conference chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani over the issue of Kounsarnag yatra in South Kashmir. According to police the restrictions on gathering of people under Section 144 CrPC have been imposed in Khanyar, Nowhatta, Rainawari, M R Gunj and Safakadal police station areas of the city as a precautionary measure. Security forces have been deployed in strength in sensitive areas to prevent any law and order situation. Gaza Source-PTI Israel today carried out fresh attacks on southern Gaza Strip amidst a hunt for one of its missing soldiers believed to be captured by Hamas, as the new wave of violence has raised the Palestinians toll to 1650. At least 50 people were killed overnight in Israeli strikes, most of them in Rafah. Gaza health officials that 8,900 Palestinians have been injured so far. Massive Israeli artillery shelling yesterday killed 160 Palestinians across the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip following the collapse of a 72-hour truce just two hours after it began. Addressing media persons after a party function in Udhampur today Azad said that last time while it was Amarnath controversy this time efforts are going on to make Kosarnag a controversy.
