Evening Reflections “Delight yourself also in the Lord; and he - TopicsExpress

Evening Reflections “Delight yourself also in the Lord; and he shall give you the desires of your heart.” Psalm 37:4 Websters defines the word “delight” as an intransitive verb, meaning to take great pleasure (in), to be rejoiced. Strongs1 translation for “delight” is the Hebrew-Chaldean word “Anag”(Aw-nag), whose base means “soft”. It also figuratively means “luxurious”. By looking at these definitions we can say that God wants us to be in a high state of rejoicing and to live richly in His Word. By doing this we will find happiness and satisfaction in Christ. When we follow the Word of God and walk in His ways we shall begin to discover the blessings that accompany that walk. However we must be aware that God’s promises are conditional. We first must believe in all things that He can and will do, and that faith must come by cheerfully obeying His precepts. But most of all we simply must believe that HE IS! When we are disobedient, we limit God. But it is not His ability that is limited. It is we that limit His desire to bless us. I say this because God is a righteous God first and foremost. He cannot sanction sin. In Psalm 112:1-8 we see that those who fear (reverence) God and delight (find luxury) in His ways and words are blessed. In versus 2-8 these blessings are listed, but again note that they are conditional. Psalm 128:1-6 reinforces the conditions of blessings and extends them to your entire family.
