Gather these clippings from members of the class and create a collage that shows the different sub-fields od specialization in event management. 2. Leaf through the telephone directory and identify possible suppliers for events. Start your own directory of suppliers which you may use for future events. 3. Visit an event management company and interview a representative on the scope of services that they offer their clients. Report in class and compare findings from other event management companies. Group 2: 1. Interview a wedding planner, a convention manager, and bazaar or retail event manager. Have them describe the different stakeholders they usually work with on that they handle. How are they able to balance each one’s concern and still achieve the event objectives. 2. Study an ad or brochure of a party coordinator. Study the list of services offered. Make a list of prospective clients for this party coordinator. 3. Surf the web for information on how family celebrations have changed now that the services of party/event coordinators are available. Group 3: 1. Research on standard security procedure for the following events. a. Concerts b. Business Conferences c. Embassy Gala Dinner d. Wedding 2. Sur the internet for new and article on event crisis situation that happened in the past. Analyze the situation as described in the news article. a. Could the crisis have been prevented? How? b. How was the crisis handled? Evaluate how it was done. 3. Name at least 5 potential problems you have identified for an event that you are currently planning. Indicate: the likely causes of the problem; preventive actions; contingent action; and triggers that will set the contingent plan into action. Group 4: 1. Interview a professional event manager and ask about financial challenges that they usually encounter when staging an event. 2. Discuss how event expenses can be reduced without sacrificing the experience and attainment of objectives. 3. List At-least 10 timesavers that will be helpful for event managers. 4. Design another way of presenting an event checklist. (Make your own checklist based on your planned event.)
