Events that Ive watched: Alpine Skiing, Biathlon, Figure Skating, Hockey, Luge, Moguls, Skiathlon, Ski Jumping, Slopestyle, Speed Skating Heres what I learned today: - They interviewed Sage Kotsenburg about his Gold Medal win in Slopestyle. Dude totally sounds like a snowboarder. When asked about Shaun White not competing in the event he said Having him there would have been sick. Thats about right. - Name of the Day goes to Swedish Hockey player Jenni Asserholt, who incidentally managed to score the only goal of the game against Japan. She should be thankful she didnt grow up in the US. - The Luge competitors wear gloves with spikes on the finger tips. They say its to help with the start. I say its just another case of equipment for an Olympic sport that could be used to kill someone. - What they dont let you hear during the Luge: Competitors scream AAAAAAHHHHHH the whole way down. True story. - Ok I get that the 15 year old Russian Figure Skater was pretty good, but NBC literally replayed her short program skate from the team competition 5 times over the course of the day. - Dan Patrick keeps interviewing Tanith Belbin about Figure Skating. Id like to let everyone know for the record that Im ok with this. - Luge is contested at the Sanki Sliding Center. If this doesnt give Sanka and his Jamaican teammates an edge come Bobsled time I dont know what will. - When asked in an interview what his plan of attack was, American Luge competitor Chris Mazdzer stated that he had nothing to lose. I believe the good people who hand out the medals after the event would beg to differ. - Russian Luge competitor Albert Demtschenkos nickname is The Butcher. I can only assume this nickname was given to him based on his work with the Russian mafia. - Man those male Figure Skaters sure do wear sparkly shirts. - How awesome would it be if someone used Baby Got Back for a Figure Skating routine? Not awesome? Oh well. - Tara Lipinski is a commentator for Figure Skating. If they had Jennifer Love Hewitt and Sarah Michelle Gellar as commentators as well, theyd have all the girls I had a crush on when I was 14 covered. - According to Johnny Weir, Japanese Figure Skater Akiko Suzukis coach says that her greatest weapon is her heart. Personally I wouldnt recommend bringing her heart to a gun fight. - Pretty sure Ski Jumping is judged by how much they dont land on their head. Cause when they fall, man do they fall. - Swiss Ski Jumper Simon Ammann wins the award for most combined Ms and Ns in a name. - Watched Biathlon, or as I like to think of it, the event in which athletes are most prepared to start an impromptu Hunger Games. - A German Biathlete had the last name Sachenbacher. Her name made me sing the Sock Em Boppers commercial. Sorry if that song is stuck in your head now. - According to the announcer, Bode Miller had had a perfect week, and had won 2 out of 3 training runs. We have decidedly different definitions of the word perfect.
