Eventually, we citizens of New York, have to do something and stand up against these hideous rent increases in the commercial sector- unlike the fresh college graduates, these businesses do not have loving parents to subsidize their monthly rent! Really, the rent is "too damn high" and it is beginning to destroy the face of our once varied and unique city. Unfortunately, this will soon be a city lined with only BIG BOX stores that would have never made it in NYC before, because back then New Yorkers refused to pay "that much" when they could get a bargain elsewhere; or they had loyalty to their mom and pop store; or basically had too much taste to be caught dead in KMart. Yes, we may have been snobs (in our own way) but it kept the city unique! If we dont start speaking up with our money, this city is doomed to become nothing more than a fossil or a fable of something that once was and no one will ever be able to write another Woody Allen style movie about this place ever again.
