Ever add sugar to a cold beverage and stir forever and still find sugar crystals in the bottom of your glass that refuse to dissolve??? A cure is to make a simple syrup. It is a 1:1 ratio of sugar to water. So, 1 cup of water plus 1 cup of sugar heated for about 5 minutes until the sugar dissolves = simple syrup. You can use this to sweeten your iced-tea or lemonade or any drink to and not have to worry about the sugar crystals not dissolving. Of course, you can use this simple syrup for cooking too.
