Ever been in a situation where you are angry, and someone tells - TopicsExpress

Ever been in a situation where you are angry, and someone tells you to count to ten? Theres a really good reason for this. When you are angry, your whole body tenses up. Your breathing is restricted. Shallow breathing triggers your your fight or flight system - the fear you would feel if someone approached you from behind at night. The body triggers that system when it thinks you are in a stressful situation or might need to react quickly. When you breathe deeply engaging the diaphragm, the body releases calming chemicals into your body. As you breathe deeply and slowly, you give the body time to calm the angry thoughts and you will relax. Try it - let me know how it works for you.
