Ever have a friend you see being used as a political pawn but dont know how to explain it to them that they are being used to sell someone elses twisted agenda? I have a friend being pointed at a brass ring that is only an illusion and never going to happen. They are so focused on that illusive prize they do not see that they are opening doors, not by merit of good work but by simple cultural symbology. Its like that old episode of The Brady Bunch where Greg is told he will be the next big rock star. He thinks he was picked because of his talent but the real reason he was chosen was just because he fit the suit. My friend has bought into the lie hook, line, and sinker. What happens to them when they are no longer the flavor of the month? I shudder to think of how rude the awakening will be. The right words are so hard to find sometimes. I am afraid their ears are closed to any and all cautionary tales. Politics is such an ugly thing. It has no conscience and devours the innocent and trusting in its path.
