Ever have an N completely ignore you~ walk right by you without acknowledging you or even interrupt your conversations with other people and talk to the other person as if you werent even there~ and then get offended when you dont go out of your way to greet him or bother acknowledging him? We are so far beneath Ns that they cannot even stoop to saying hello or excuse me, while they are the king or queen that we all have to pay homage to. I subscribe to the whats good for the goose is good for the gander philosophy, although it took me awhile to feel comfortable with this. I no longer chase people all over the room trying to greet them while they pretend Im invisible. I chat with whomever is nearby, and if an N wants me to acknowledge him, then he can find me and greet me. Its interesting when the N comments about this~ as in, werent you going to say hello to me? Instead of deflecting or making a nice excuse, I now throw it back in his lap~ as in, Oh, I knew YOU would say hello to me when you had a chance (big friendly smile). Lets him know very nicely that social graces are expected of him, too, and all the butt-kissing isnt going to go one-way. Everything is a competition with an N, including who commands the most respect, and we are never equals (or betters) until we position ourselves as such.
