Ever have one of those songs that you either disliked or simply disregarded long ago, and then you hear it and it really has an effect on you? I was just out grabbing a gallon of milk at Braums (yeah, envy my phat DJ lifestyle) and along the way I was listening to an old Billboard 80s compilation CD. I saw that Hold on to the Nights was on there and felt compelled to play it. I had never appreciated the song the way I did during that short drive. On the way back home, I played it again. This mainstream pop power ballad, of which I certainly was not a fan back in the day, really moved me. Not to the point of tears... but it definitely brought back some nostalgia and some palpable sadness. Crazy/fact: That song hit #1 OVER TWENTY-SIX years ago. Another crazy/sad fact: Richard Marx is now FIFTY-ONE.
