Ever hear of bulletproof coffee? As a (mostly) primal gal, this is my breakfast nearly every day! Bulletproof coffee is just coffee or espresso mixed with either unsalted grass-fed butter or coconut oil. I also use grass-fed cream, a little cinnamon and a little sweetener. Butter in your coffee sounds yucky, but its really very tasty and makes a wonderful, rich, creamy cup. The trick is to heat the butter or oil a bit and then use an aerator to blend it well. I also like to create a little foam on top. Most European butters are grass-fed. Kerrygold is one brand that is widely available and fairly inexpensive. Just make sure you use unsalted butter! If you use coconut oil, its nice to use a brand that still has some of the coconut flavor intact. What a lovely addition to the coffee experience! Want a Vietnamese coffee? Add a little cocoa along with the cinnamon. Fabulous!
