Ever heard of BlogTalkRadio? BlogTalkRadio is the largest and most influential Internet-based social media radio network with thousands of talented hosts airing radio format programing on every kind of topic — from politics and current affairs, entertainment and sports to health and finance. For several years, I have urged political activists to air their own social media Internet radio programming. Ive frequently suggested that the Texas Democratic Party start its own Internet radio program as part of its drive to connect with and motivate Texas Democrats to GOTV. No takers, so far. So, instead just saying do as I say, Im taking the plunge to lead by example, to say, do as I do. This evening, Ill have an hour long guest interview spot on the The Smoking Glass Hour internet talk radio call in program. The topic is how state Voter Photo I.D. laws are attempting roll back voting rights granted by the 1965 Voting Rights Act. This is my intro: Michael Handley became active in politics in 2008 after retiring from a 35 year career in the computer software industry. In the mid-1990s he was part of the venture capital business start-up of BEA Systems, an Internet infrastructure software company. As a senior executive of BEA product manage and marketing, he was an early advocate for how business and government could use the Internet to advance their respective private and public sector missions. When turning to politics in 2008, he became an advocate for using the Internet and social media for political campaigning and organizing. Michael then became active with the Texas Democratic Party as a precinct chair in Collin County, Texas. Collin County is one of the fastest growing, wealthiest, and most Republican counties in the country, where only three of every seven voting age persons cast a ballot in the Nov 2012 presidential election. Michael is now chair of his county partys Texas Senate District Committee, just chairing his Senate Districts Democratic Convention this past Saturday. Michael will chair his county senate districts delegation to the Texas Democratic Partys state convention in June. Michael is also Vice President of the Democratic Network Political Action Committee, and publishes the Democratic Blog News. Michael frequently speaks on topical issues for DemNets monthly educational forums, and as guest speaker for other politically active groups in North Texas. Michael often speaks and writes about how state Voter Photo I.D. laws are attempting roll back voting rights granted by the Voting Rights Act, signed into law on August 6, 1965, by President Lyndon Johnson. Welcome Mr. Handley
