Ever notice how the mistakes we make often define us... at least to some degree. They dont have to... but often the cost of our bad judgment is that everyone knows and nobody forgets. Folks tend to recall the stupid rather than the smart and the foolish rather the wise. The scripture, you will know them by their fruits cuts both ways. Thats unfortunate because there are things in my past for which I dont want to be remembered. But of course I cannot erase a memory but rather I can only live as best I can today and just let the past be. Yesterdays bad judgment helps me know what good judgment looks like. Yesterdays stupid provides a view of what smart is. The consequence of misdeeds is that they cannot be undone... but they can be building blocks for new tomorrows and new ways to be known. I am thankful that one of Gods most restorative gifts is forgiveness.
